It is one of the popular bus stands of Goa that offer facilities to commuters to go to their work place. Moreover, tourists also use it as a transit point for their onward journey to explore Goa. This bus stand provides transport and connectivity to Goa’s main towns and rural areas.

This bus stand was set up in 1980 by the Congress government and later own headed by Pratapsing Rane. This bus stand was started to provide cheap, time saving, comfortable, lucrative, and safe transportation services to people. Somehow, the station has accomplished this objective. The fare charges of buses operating at this station are quite reasonable.

The stand is very close to Madgaon Railway Station. It is a good option for inter-state travellers. The bus fare is quite reasonable and you can purchase the tickets in advance. It is suggested to buy your tickets well in advance, particularly during the peak season, i.e., from October to December and from May to June. Ensure when you book the ticket that you have an allotted seat number and receipt of it. The station also provides some non-stop shuttle mini bus services connecting inner Goa. The station runs a large number of private and government operated bus services of the neighbouring state of Maharashtra and Karnataka. The bus journey from Bangalore to Goa takes about 13 hours and the fare is around Rs. 300 per person. Whereas, from Mumbai to Goa, the bus journey takes around 18 hours and the fare is around Rs. 400 per person. The bus usually stops at eating joints, so that travellers can have some food.

The station offers special services to the schools according to the school timings. The bus service for schools are operated on monthly passes issued to the students by the school management. The fare for children, senior citizens, and students are different; they are charged less as compared to the normal fare.
